A fresh face has recently joined our team here at MyMicroInvest. Meet Laurent Jouret, our new Senior Investment Manager for the Inventures II fund. At 45 years old, Laurent decided that is was time for a change and joined our ranks in the beginning of October 2017.
After working in finance for several Belgian and foreign banks, Laurent spent 10 years working for Sofina, an investment holding company where he had the chance to work on direct investment opportunities and to manage a global portfolio for Private Equity funds in Luxembourg.
This father of three and Commercial Engineer alumni already knew a few things about MyMicroInvest: « it’s hard being part of the Belgian investment world without having heard about the platform. Crowdfunding was not an unfamiliar concept for Laurent. Indeed, thanks to his previous job, he already had done some research on the subject in order to understand this growing market more clearly.
So, what tempted him to join us? Well three reasons: «First, the ability to join a dynamic and talented team. Second, the fact that I could use my energy and experience to help young entrepreneurs. And last, but not least, taking part in the management of a fund that has a positive impact on society.»
As Senior Investment Manager for the Inventures II fund, Laurent will be in charge of finding young and promising start-ups; coordinating the analysis of these companies along with the other members of the team; participating in the writing of investment memos which are used as a basis in the investment decision making process; following the companies in which the fund has invested by attending the Board of Directors; helping entrepreneurs reach their objectives and then orchestrating the company’s exit.
And as new member of the MyMicroInvest team his first week was quite stimulating: «working with a young company, the professionalism of the teams, the discovery of a pipeline with high quality investment opportunities are really a testament to MyMicroInvest’s lively work environment and its ability to attract amazing start-ups.”
