WSL Technologie-incubator

Long term support
WSL’s core purpose is to support technopreneurs throughout their project, from their company’s launch to the growth phase. We maximize their chances of success by providing local, confidential mentoring for up to five years.
Innovative tools
MatMaX™, which is available for Android and from the App Store, is our product maturity tracking tool. It provides a link between the contribution made by each technopreneur/business coach.
Wiskli is the WSL community’s interactive collaboration and content-sharing tool. The platform can be used to access all of WSL’s hard and soft resources.
Tailored programs
WSL’s agility makes it possible to meet technopreneurs’ fast-changing needs.
Over time, WSL has launched pilot projects, now boosters, with the same aim of accelerating the business’s launch and/or growth. These boosters are either sector-specific (Health, GreenTech, Industry 4.0), or interdisciplinary (engineering students, sales).
With the Corporate Incubation Program, WSL has joined forces with major industrial players. In many areas, true breakthrough innovations often come from small, dynamic and agile teams. It’s win-win for companies, which give access to their business network, investment funds and/or customer base and in return gain insight into their sector’s dynamism and the opportunity to adopt innovative solutions.
Finally, the SLP (Soft Landing Program) enables overseas companies to launch their activities in the heart of Europe from Wallonia.

Comprehensive assessments
The support begins with a review of the project (or startup if founded within the last five years), enabling WSL to assess (at its cost) four clearly defined fields: the intellectual property, market, technology and quality of the team. This assessment in MatMaX® gives a comprehensive overview of the project’s maturity and makes it possible to identify the strategic areas to be developed and improved.
If the assessment is positive, and WSL is confident that it can provide added value, the project is presented to the selection committee, comprising WSL Board members and partners (local investors, experts, etc.).
The recommendations are then submitted for the Board’s approval. The WSL Board comprises representatives of Wallonia and, in most cases, industry representatives via the clusters, as well as universities and research centres.
Streetbrewers applied January 2022 and was approved december 2022.
A local trusted team
WSL’s added value is its team! Our business coaches are based across Wallonia and have particularly impressive skill sets, combining specialist engineering training with entrepreneurial experience. In their day-to-day roles, they blend their knowledge of the local environment with their sector-specific expertise. And so, every BUC understands their colleagues’ projects and can make a valuable contribution to each one.
These contacts offer WSL’s startups invaluable insights. The close, trusted relationships developed over time between the project managers and business leaders are central to WSL’s added value.
