The market size that ono plays in is as large as Europe, 27 countries. Country by country, region by region, regulators are creating the rules of sharing based on the European framework.
ono can follow on the activities of each zone and be active where regulations allow and where people are interesting in sharing.
In terms of people, it can be anyone fulfiling 3 conditions:
- consuming electricity or producing domestic electricity via own production system (mainly solar panels for now) via an official EAN code
- using a digital meter from the GRD
- having an official contract with an authorized suppliers of electricity

ono will be on top of a new market
For the moment, after more than 18 months of examining the market, no other company or project offers the same service as ono. No other initiative is proposing to be a disruptive force in stabilising, facilitating, securing and making transparent the electricity sharing market, or in redistributing its production and profits on a European scale in a spirit of local solidarity. And certainly not with the aim of enabling users to become players in their own energy future.
ono proposes you to be first partakers into this blue ocean. The first actor will win it all. We can be that actor now.
ono start plan and progression
Our company has been created this year in 2024. we are designing and preparing ono and are ready to start still this year or early next year. As as we finish the fundraising thanks to you, we can finalize the build-up and launch the full communication.
Our business plan is based on a segmentation linked to the 2 main roles: buyers and sellers. Within each segment, there are 3 profiles linked to the quantity of electricity involved: households, small and medium-sized businesses and large businesses. The final segment concerns condominiums, which are legally specific because they are linked to the same cadastral unit in most cases.
Each profile in each segment has therefore been given a weighting in our business plan equation. This weighting is linked solely to its electricity consumption or production. Average estimate in kWh per profile taken from national and European studies for 2023.
Strategically, ono proposes a fixed price per country for the exchange of electricity between people. ono's business model is transparent, since it is based exclusively on a commission of 3 cents taken from each kWh exchanged between people using our platform and algorithm.
ono is preparing to launch in Belgium in 2024 or January 2025. With the progression of participants to the next share:
start: 4,000 participants in the first month of start-up
End of 2025: 160,000 participants
End of 2026: 330,000 participants
End of 2027: 660.000 participants
Which means ono aims at 0,35% of all the smart meters installed in Europe, end of 2023. Or for another comparison, 2 thirds of the actual Flemish market.
To reach that objective, we are preparing our start in Belgium. We are almost ready to launch in the 3 regions. We are already official actors of the energy market in France. We started 3 weeks ago the discussion with the politics in Netherlands. We are working hands in hands with Hub Brussels in the 5 countries we target to beat those objectives: Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany and Spain.
ono go-to-market is about accessibility, speed and virality.
ono creates a digital platform to host the crowdsourced network of electricity of Europe, which means it will be accessible to anyone. Each person of Europe can be part of ono and support it.
As a sharing network, ono will ask to participants to share with as many friends as possible to connect everyone and transform the domestic electricity into people power to increase purchase power and strive for price stability.
Its marketing will be focusing on a strong social brand where participants have to be locally actors in their own success.
Therefor, we focus our approach on 4 axes:
1/ finding social/non profit associations locally involved that can support the creation of the communities of energy. Those social actors will be our first ambassadors. They are key in the build-up of our legitimacy. We found partners already in Belgium. Energy is such an important topic nowadays that we can find associations fighting against poverty everywhere.
2/ the recruitment in a 1-to-1 sales approach of big businesses which invested already in important solar panels intallations and reinjecting already huge amount of electricity each month via their usual suppliers. With them, we can collaborate on the creation of a firs timportant electric power ready to be shared their neighbors via new ono community. ono promise and positioning helps those companies to make way more profit with their surplus, as well as fullfilling some of their CSR objectives, as well as building a positive relationship with their neighbors. With them, we can co-create viral and impactful local communications to recruitment the buyers-takes of ono.
3/ a very strong and social brand using human terms, fashion communication codes and sharing people values.
ono speaks the language of the people. It will always try to simplify things and explanations to inform and educate people about the energy sharing. Empowering people to change the energy future is a key factor in our approach. ono creates with the support of Milk and cookies a branding and communication creations based on viral and guerilla mechanims.
4/ PR pillar and perscribers
ono is preparing a communications plan for relations with the press and online ambassadors to amplify the social impact and objectives of ono across all media channels.
We already have partners committed to communicating about us in Belgium, including trade unions, solar panel installers and others. Pescription is key element in our approach and succeed in interesting many actors already for different reasons.
Proofs of interest and attractions
ono prepares its start for months now. So we've already started testing our promise and our services with different user segments and profiles. We have drawn up a clear and precise letter of intent for our prospects, and we have already received some very significant initial commitments. We already have new letters of intent in the pipeline, following interest from major industrial players in Belgium's 3 regions. We are already in discussions in the Aura region of France with the first specifiers. We already have 4 letters of intent signed and 4 in progress. We are in contact with 33 companies in Belgium and 2 in France that are interested in working with us.
ono has already contact with associations, with group buying actions and newspapers. Many of them have already shown their interest and confirmed they want to work with ono.
ono is already in contact and in discussion with the regulators and distributors from the 3 regions in Belgium.
