The Birth of biaNergy
In 2018, during a chance meeting in an airport lounge, the founder of biaNergy met the grand-niece of Nikola Tesla—the visionary who dreamed of a wireless world. That encounter sparked a question: What if electricity could flow as effortlessly as Wi-Fi? How to come by to the dream of Nicola Tesla?
- What if your reading lamp could move freely across the floor—without ever needing to be near a wall socket?
- Imagine a cardiac pacemaker that never needs a battery replacement—powered wirelessly from distance, eliminating the need for another heart surgery,
Inspired by this bold idea, biaNergy was born. One year later, five engineers gathered in a university lab, driven by a singular mission: to free electricity from wires and batteries and revolutionize how power is delivered.
Over the next five years, the team grew to seven engineers and five managers, working relentlessly to turn a concept into reality. A future without wiring constraints comes true!
Today, biaNergy—the project name of Nicola Srl, incorporated a few months ago in Brussels—stands as a symbol of innovation and determination, shaping a future where electricity is no longer confined by cables or reliant on batteries to the price of our health but moves freely, and safely.
Now, your lamp can move freely across the floor and cardiac pacemaker can be energized, all at a distance! The dream is real, and the journey continues.

The Problem

We are still tied to cables & batteries tempesting our environment and damaging our own health.
Electricity surrounds us, yet we remain chained to cables, sockets, adapters, powerbanks, touchpads and disposable batteries—a burden on both our lives and our planet. Every year, we generate mountains of electronic waste, tangled in clutter, short circuits, and toxic fumes from discarded batteries that poison our air, soil, and water. We cut our trees to make out of them cartoons to dispatch these electricity accessories.
We are not just paying for outdated wired infrastructure—we are paying with our freedom. Our devices, meant to empower us, instead fetter us to walls and outlets, restricting movement, limiting creativity, and forcing us into an inefficient, wasteful cycle.
The cost is staggering—not just in money, but in millions of tons of plastics, metals, and chemicals shipped across oceans, skies, and highways, wrapped and rewrapped in packaging that will outlive us all. Every day, we consume microplastics, unknowingly ingesting the very waste we create.
Worse still, children in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Asia toil in dangerous mines, their childhoods stolen to extract lithium and cobalt—the lifeblood of disposable batteries.
In Europe, 244,000 tonnes of portable batteries were sold in 2022, yet only 46% (111,000 tonnes) were collected for recycling. The remaining 112,200 tonnes end up in landfills and water systems, contaminating ecosystems and endangering health of livings. The disposal of lithium-ion batteries in landfills and waters is growing at an alarming rate of 15.3% per year, escalating the environmental crisis."

This is the true cost of our wired world. The question is: How much longer will we accept it?
The Solution

Electricity Through the Air
biaNergy has developed Magnetic Resonance Technology - Extended (MRT-E), a wireless electricity system that works just like Wi-Fi but for power. No more cables. No more plugging in. No more battery waste. And you can afford to forget your cord or power bank safely at home!
It is time for opening avenues to new technologies: Imagine cardiac pacemakers would be energized wirelessly without the need for an open operation on the patient due drained battery, or your reading lamp unchained, moving freely on the floor. Imagine a building without extensive wall-wiring. A transmitter as small as a wi-fi modem propagates energy safely, without any harm to living beings and objects in homes, offices, trains, busses, cars, cafés and public places..
Future wireless networks will be equipped with (radiative) wireless power transfer (WPT) capability… Consequently those networks will enable trillions of future low-power devices to sense, compute, connect, and energize anywhere, anytime, and on the move."
The Product
As a technology designer, biaNergy provides Magnetic Resonance Technology-Extended (MRT-E) to be implemented serially into products by electric and electronic device producers. The solution is delivered in the form of firmware, comprehensive manuals, implementation guides, and a commitment to ongoing updates, ensuring seamless integration and long-term scalability.
biaNergy is not a hardware producer but a technology designer, empowering manufacturers to incorporate efficient and innovative wireless power solutions into their devices with precision and reliability.
Technology
Magnetic Resonance Technology - Extended (MRT-E) bases on creation of a magnetic field. That magnetic field is being also created by Qi technology (touch pad), only limited in distance, radius and Line-of-Sight. biaNergy did develop the method to extend the distance, to widen the radius and make it Non-Line-of-Site.
The working principle of MRT-E is explained best at following example:
The working principle of MRT-E is explained best at following example:
"A tenor shattering a wine glass with a perfectly high-pitched note. The glass remains still until the sound wave hits its exact resonant frequency—then, it absorbs the energy of the note, vibrates intensely, and can even break apart. Just as the glass responds to the right frequency, MRT-E transfers power by precisely tuning to the resonant frequency of the receiving device, enabling efficient energy transfer over greater distances.."
biaNergy's MRT-E technology is able to disseminate up to 20 Watts (<- out from the transmitter) and harvest up to 6 Watts (-> in on the receiver side). In the EU it is limited to 4 Watts at 800 mHz.

We evaluated biaNergy and found that the claims are generally technically feasible."

Is biaNergy’s technology harmless to living beings and objects?
Permits obtained?
Yes, biaNergy’s technology complies with international safety regulations, including FCC and EU standards, ensuring that its energy transfer operates within safe electromagnetic exposure limits. Rigorous testing confirms that its power levels (up to 6 Watts in the U.S. and 4 Watts/36 dBμA/m in the EU) remain well below ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) and FCC (US Federal Communications Commission) SAR limits (1.6 W/kg averaged over 1g of tissue for the U.S., 2 W/kg averaged over 10g of tissue for the EU). Independent safety assessments confirm that biaNergy’s EMF exposure levels are significantly lower than mobile phones and Wi-Fi, making it harmless for humans, animals, and surrounding objects.
- ETSI Standards: According to ETSI the output power for certain WPT devices is limited to 4 Watts Equivalent Radiated Power (ERP) Read more: ETSI
- US FCC Guidelines: The FCC regulates RF exposure to ensure public safety. For devices like WPT systems, the FCC enforces Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limits, which measure the rate at which the body absorbs energy. Read more: FCC
Permits: biaNergy’s Low-Wattage technology (up to 4 Watts) complies with EU and (6 Watts) with FCC regulations and operates freely within their guidelines. However, in line with technological development, biaNergy will seek regulatory approval for its Mid- and High-Wattage technologies (above 60W) due to the increased power transfer over the air, which requires special permits.
IP-Rights and Patents
biaNergy's technology is proprietary, protected by IP-Rights and 8 applied patents at European Patent Office. A Freedom To Operate Confirmation has been issued.
