It is very difficult to find a parking spot near our house and the charging stations in our area are often occupied when I get home.

1. Electric car adoption goal and challenges
   
   Europe: To reach its goal of being climate neutral by 2050, the EU is taking measures to reduce car emissions, as road transport accounts for one-fifth of EU CO2 emissions. In June 2022, the European Parliament already supported the Commission's proposal to have zero CO2 emissions from new cars and vans by 2035.
   
   EV adoption in Belgium and Europe: growth of EVs in the EU is 10 times faster than available charging infrastructure. Workers and individuals switching to electric vehicles (EVs) are mainly concerned about driving range (53%) and charging time (47%). And, specifically in cities, about lack of home chargers (37%) and limited public infrastructure (45%). These concerns are consistent with European averages, where similar percentages highlight these problems.
   
   Driving range and charging times are the biggest challenges as they affect daily usability and convenience. Limited access to home chargers and public charging stations create uncertainty and unpleasant user experiences, especially in urban areas.
   
   
   
2. Sustainable urban development, a concern of city residents & cities
   
   Public space is scarce and serves different purposes. Cities do not wish to go back to the days of parking meters.  Filling public space with charging stations is not an option. Therefore, cities are looking for alternatives. At the same time, residents, especially young, working families without private parking, depend on public charging. This creates a tension between the vision of cities and the needs of its residents.

   The transition to an electric fleet poses significant challenges for companies, especially in terms of car policies around charging. Fragmented data spread across different CPOs (charging station operators) and eMSPs (charging card providers) makes it difficult for fleet managers to get a clear overview of their fleet. They lack overview and convenient tools to optimally manage their fleet and additional costs.
